Applied AI & Multilingual NLP Engineering - Master's/Doctorate-Level Postgraduate Internship
Apply NowAbout Us
Vosyn is a Language Synthesis AI company based in Toronto. We build technology that removes language barriers, so people can access and understand information in any language. We are preparing for an IPO, and the people who join us now help shape both the product and the company itself. Good ideas get heard here, whoever they come from.
About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and technically capable master's- or doctorate-level recent graduate or final-year student to join our Hong Kong research and development team as an Applied AI & Multilingual NLP Engineer. This role is designed for someone interested in applying large language models, natural language processing, machine learning, and computational linguistics to real-world multilingual localization challenges. You will contribute to the development of multilingual AI systems that preserve meaning, tone, context, cultural relevance, and speaker intent across languages. Initial areas of focus may include Cantonese, Mandarin, English, and other strategically important Asia-Pacific languages. This is a hands-on applied engineering role. You will work on real technology, experiments, prototypes, datasets, evaluation processes, and product integrations that contribute directly to Vosyn's multilingual AI platform.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and improve multilingual NLP and large language model workflows for contextual translation and localization.
- Contribute to AI capabilities supporting text, voice, video, dialogue, and digital-content localization.
- Experiment with prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation, model adaptation, fine-tuning, and inference optimization.
- Build, clean, structure, and validate multilingual datasets for model development and evaluation.
- Develop test cases covering Cantonese, Mandarin, English, code-switching, regional expressions, terminology, tone, and cultural references.
- Investigate challenges involving semantic ambiguity, dialect variation, named entities, idiomatic language, and context preservation.
- Evaluate multilingual outputs for contextual accuracy, semantic preservation, consistency, cultural appropriateness, latency, and usability.
- Work with evaluation and data engineering team members to benchmark model performance and validate improvements.
- Support the integration of AI workflows into VosynVerse prototypes, product interfaces, APIs, and pilot environments.
- Research emerging multilingual AI methods, models, datasets, and tools relevant to VosynVerse HK Limited and Vosyn's technology roadmap.
- Document experiments, technical decisions, model configurations, results, limitations, and recommended next steps.
- Maintain clear development records that support reproducibility, intellectual property documentation, and future product development.
- Participate in technical reviews, demonstrations, pilot preparation, and cross-functional collaboration.
About You
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a master's or doctorate program in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, Computational Linguistics, Data Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. Enrollment in or completion of a master's or doctorate program is mandatory.
- Strong programming ability in Python.
- Understanding of natural language processing, machine learning, transformer architectures, embeddings, and large language models.
- Familiarity with relevant technologies such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, Hugging Face Transformers, or comparable AI and NLP frameworks.
- Experience with prompt engineering, fine-tuning, retrieval-augmented generation, model evaluation, or inference workflows is an asset.
- Experience with multilingual NLP, machine translation, speech technologies, language synthesis, or localization is an asset.
- Professional proficiency in Cantonese or Mandarin is a strong asset.
- Familiarity with Git, APIs, cloud environments, structured datasets, and collaborative software development.
- Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to move between research concepts and practical implementation.
- Excellent attention to detail and an ability to document technical work clearly.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with a distributed, multidisciplinary team.
- Must be based in Hong Kong, or able to work from Hong Kong, and legally eligible to work in Hong Kong.
